DIY Hand Sanitizer

In this video, we go over how you can make your own hand sanitizer at home with just a few basic items.

What you’ll need:
91% Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
Aloe vera gel
Mixing bowl
Spoon or something for whisking
Small container, such as a 3 oz. travel bottle
Optional: essential oil to give the liquid a fragrance

Directions:
In a mixing bowl, stir Isopropyl alcohol and aloe vera gel together until well blended.
Add 8-10 drops of scented essential oil (optional, but nice!). Stir to incorporate.
Pour the homemade hand sanitizer into an empty container and seal. Write “hand sanitizer” on a piece of masking tape and affix to the bottle.

  3. Warning don't buy from Amazon. They are selling hand sanitizers that say 60mls but 60mls is only 2 ounces and they want 7-10 dollars. I told Amazon yesterday.

  4. You're better off using 99% isopropyl alcohol.

  12. At 91%, mixing in 1/3 aloe vera, you're getting pretty close to the minimum recommended 60% alcohol. I'd recommend using 99% alcohol (more expensive) or a little less aloe vera which will make it even more runny than this.

  13. OMG if you were my nurse, I would die from that awful voice.

  14. Looks to watery maybe more gel?

  15. You should note if your using 70% isopropyl alcohol it's 9 to 1 ratio…most isopropyl alcohol is sold out though. Also 60-95% is what to aim for the ratio above should give you 63%. Plz correct me if this incorrect seeing as how I'm just a blue collar worker.

  16. The aloe vera gel just coagulates in a lump in the bowl, like a egg white. Food mixer makes it worse 🙁

  17. Sprays and wipes to clean your glasses also have the alcohol in it.. might dry out the hands quicker. But better than nothing if no way to wash your hands

  23. Thanks. I just finished making my own. I didn't add any oil, because I use lotion. I cannot find any in my neighborhood; but I bought 2 small bottles. I usually keep it in my home, but I like staying ahead of the game.
